The most influential people from my past were my grandmothers. One was an artist the other a homemaker and master gardener. They taught me about color, beauty, abstract art, nature, and food. I'm ambidextrous. I draw and paint with both hands, sometimes at the same time. I love the looseness and freedom that I find when creating abstract art. I also love the structure of realistic drawing, painting, and photography. I frequently bounce between abstract and structure and look for ways to bring the two into one in the art I create.
Oil paint, acrylic paint, watercolors, pastels, pencils, pens, on canvas, boards, and or paper. And I love taking photos when I'm out in nature.
My most recent work has been oil paintings. I love how working with oil paint slows me down and becomes a both a meditative and creative process.
I've also been playing a lot with Procreate. I've made a few logos and had a lot of fun learning how to use Procreate. It's great when traveling!
The colors and magic I see in nature are my constant inspirations. When I'm working on a black and white piece the tone, the shades of gray, become as exciting as color.
I'm especially fond of flowers, autumn leaves, stones, and all of the amazing sea shells, sea weed, and other treasures of the ocean that are waiting to be found at low tide or in tide pools.
First snow of the season, moody Spring and Fall skies, stormy skies, and puffy layered clouds with sunshine sneaking through; it all lights me up!
